It’s been so great to see our Online Business Lift-Off (OBL) Program help those who can’t work a traditional “9 to 5” job. We’ve helped many carers and job seekers set up their own businesses online. We teach you how to find and validate a business idea, get your technology set up, and start running your business so you can get customers coming to you.
Our featured online business for this week is Sandy Barber
Sandy is from ‘Gartna, Dhelkunya, Garinga’, meaning ‘connect, heal, grow’ in Dja Dja Wurrung language. She's a Wayapa Wurrk practitioner, which is an earth connection practice based on ancient Indigenous wisdom.
So Sandy, tell us a bit about yourself and your online business.
I’m a Dja Dja Wurrung/Yorta Yorta woman and part of the Stolen Generation. At my previous job, I took annual leave to complete the Wayapa Wurrk course, and it was intense! I’m legally blind so it was challenging, but very rewarding once I had completed it – I knew then and there that I was ready to use what I had learnt in the next chapter of my life. After leaving my job, I realised I wanted to set up a business teaching these practices and decided to go through the Online Business Lift-Off program.
My business, ‘Gartna, Dhelkunya, Garinga’ teaches the Wayapa Wuurrk modality that brings culture, mindfulness and movement together to connect us with all the elements that keep us sustained on this earth. It is a beautiful, ancient Aboriginal modality, and by practicing this we can all be more connected to Mother Earth. You can learn more about my business here: https://earthmindfulness.com.au/.
What was the problem you were trying to solve before signing up to the OBL program?
As soon as I officially became a Wayapa Wurrk practitioner, I knew I wanted to pass these teachings on. I was open to finding out ways to help my community learn more about Wayapa, so I asked myself, what is the best way to spread these teachings? Wayapa Wurrk is all about connecting people to Country, and I realised what I really wanted to do was share what I’d learnt. There’s 14 elements of Mother Earth, and I wanted to teach everyone about these practices and all the mindfulness, meditation and movements involved.
What has the experience been like through the OBL program? What did you enjoy the most?
I thought my initial Wayapa course was challenging, then along came the OBL course, and boy, it was a completely different world! There was a lot of technology to learn, each week there was something new. It wasn’t easy for me to adapt to but I had a lot of one-on-one help to get through – Zay was great! I enjoyed meeting everyone and working with leaders who are so passionate about what they do.
One thing OBL really helped me with is to find out who I served. At first, I wanted to teach anyone and everyone about Wayapa! But once I realised that having a smaller market to start with was better, I narrowed it down to young children between 2-7 years old, which became my happy spot. I reached out to preschools and kindys and started teaching classes from there.

Be ready for a challenge – it’s rewarding once you get to the end. You'll learn everything you need to know about how to work and run a business, how to present your website, how to keep track of funnels and build content. It’s a really nice all-in-one course to get you started!
Thanks for the kind words, Sandy! The Online Business Lift-Off Program is a great introduction to running a business. We help you build out your idea if you don’t yet have a complete one and take you through all the tools necessary to get your business up and running.
If you’re interested in our program, pop over to our home page and add your name to the list. We'll let you know when we're starting our next program.
